I love them too, because I got a lovely ceramic squirrel figurine during a spring outing to the Summer Palace in the third grade in primary school. |

Squirrel youngsters, one stamp in a series featuring baby animals. Hi Rod, One can still buy coats/capes made of dyed squirrel pelts over the internet; I don't know if they are still made, but in my opinion squirrels need their fur more than we do. K. |

Agreed, Kris. Well I never! It did not occur to me, that it would be a pelt, or a garment. I was imagining taxidermy of a possible pet. No we certainly don't want the fur trade, yet plastics appear to be causing an even greater tragedy.

The European red squirrel in a set of stamps featuring forest animals in Switzerland, 2018. Hi Rod, Your bill is from a company marked "Manufacturing Furriers" and "Skin Merchants" and even has an associate down your way in Melbourne. It appears that Miss Secker had her coat cleaned and remodeled, perhaps to account for new fashion trends. But the company doesn't seem to exist any more.? K. |

I didn't take much notice Kris, it was on a lot I considered bidding on that contained "Kangaroos". My initial glance was captured by what I thought said "remodelling a dead Squirrel" Then it was happenstance I saw the Thread on SCF. The thought of wearing a Squirrel fur, is just beyond me. Even as a kid, I recall seeing Kings and Queens standing over dead trophies shot in Africa, thinking that was revolting. Even today I rescue spiders inside, in a cup, and take them outside to the woodpile. I even own a "humane" mouse trap. |

I like squirrels but not on my bird feeders. Actually, I like bird stamps better than squirrel stamps.

A lovely portrait of a European red squirrel issued by Andorra, 1978. (Hi Jack, Maybe you have the North American grey squirrel at your feeder and they sure can be clever. They are larger and more aggressive than the European red and have become an invasive species in parts of Europe, pushing the red to regional extinction. Good luck making an obstacle course. K.) |

And another pretty portrait of the Eurasian red squirrel issued by Usbekistan, 2018. They love pine and spruce nuts. |
