My first post here.

I've come across this MNH strip of five King George V Medallion 3 cent (Scott #197c) in an old tin that's been in the family for a long time. In looking at one of the stamps in the strip I see this noticeable mark on the King's neck. None of the other stamps in the strip have it. Is this of any interest/value? Or is it just a boring blob of ink?

Thanks for any ideas or thoughts.

Nothing in my records.
I would not call it boring, there's something there.
You'll need another to establish a flaw.
In the mean time an EFO (Errors, Freaks, and Oddities)

Welcome to the forum stampfiddler. This is the type of topic we enjoy seeing so please post anything else you want to know about.

I haven't seen it before either.

Doubtful that it is a constant variety as it hasn't been previously reported.

Possibly something landed on the paper or printing plate causing red ink to adhere to that location.

That is the sort or error that I would definitely collect as an EFO.

Thanks, guys - I guess. You sort of dashed my fantasy that I was going to be able to trade it for a mint Bluenose. Sigh. Seriously, I appreciate your thoughts and have learned something here. It's still an interesting thing to add to my collection.
