There are the two color schemes as you mention, plus a few with added text beside the bottom and I even have one with George V's picture and "Lest we forget" on the side. I believe he experimented with several trying to figure out which would sell the best, perhaps through ads in the various publications available. I have only seen the two color schemes and the red and blue are by far the most common.

One of the covers I've seen frequently for many countries is addressed to Philatelic Department, Selfridge, London
Presumably organised by the Dept for sale to its philatelic customers.
However I've yet to see a FDC of this cover which seems odd as thses would attract a premium

Has anyone else seen an FDC of this cover?

One of the most quick collection built in no time, yet it was fun doing it. Now I'm collecting the first day use covers postally used and travelled, which is rather more challenging and I hope one day I shall have all of them.

One of the covers from my small collection of the coronation covers.
South West Africa complete set cancelled 12th May 1937, registered sent to Canada with receiving cancels on the reverse.
