Hello Everybody,

So here's the thing:
I collect Vatican, specialized.
And I have had difficulty with what to look for,
So I have begun work on a site, which purpose it is to catalogue all the varieties in a picture library. Identifying the stamps,
forgeries, and all the rest. I have collected hundreds of images, but im still missing many. And most auction sites and (especially) catalogues dont appriciate you using their images.

So here's what im still looking for:

-Most registered tags

-most early FDC's (from gardens and medaillions to about the '50's airmail").

-Zeppelin flights

-Everything relating to Papal states (Due to colours and forgeries)

And here's a little sneak peak at the site:

Note that:

This site will be free to use.
Will not contain Ads.
Will take some more time, since this is a very tree-like site. Divided into many sub-sections with each series. Since the more pictures you have on 1 page , the longer it will take to load.
-Any input will be appreciated.

Forgot to mention that I also still need the many saggio overprint images. Since they come in many quantities. I have also opened my email on my account.

Julius

Prior owner of this cover saved only the front. Looking at it I can find nothing resembling a US Postmark on the front. Can't say for sure whether it actually went thru the mail or is just a souvenir item for a tourist.

Hi Getti nold,

These kind of covers are infamous for being remade for tourists. The thing that concerns me the most is the registered tag, it doesn't look like one that was standard at that time.
I have seen many concordat-sets on ""FDC"", but rarely have they actually flown/travelled, I even think some of them we're produced (with FDC postmark) after the first day of issue.

This however has an interesting envelop lid with a retour adress, and the correction in "new york" make me doubt my first instinct. It wouldn't surprise me if this is a genuine (Quite rare) real use of the first set on a (overfranked) cover.

It isn't however an FDC mark. The set was issued on the first of august 1929, your cover is dated 17 september 1929. Stil a very recent usage of this set

Hope this also gives you some extra information.

Cheers and thanks !!!

-Julius
