Finland issued a set of three, semi-postal, anti-tuberculosis stamps featuring paintings by three different artists on September 12, 1973. The stamps commemorate the birth centenaries of the three artists. The low value o.30 + 0.05 mk value (Facit #733) of this set depicts Girl with Lamb by Hugo Simberg (1873-1944).  |

On November 10, 2004 Ireland issued a four-stamp set of Christmas stamps. The low value 48c stamp features the Holy Family with a lamb. This value was issued with water-activated and self-adhesive gum (Hibernian #s C1312 and C1315) as shown here.  |

"The Hearth", issued by Italy is 1930 commemorating the 2000th anniversary birth of the Roman poet Virgil. The phrase from Virgil's poem Bucolics reads: "Hic focvs et taedae pingves hic plvrimvs ignis" ("Here we have a hearth and pitchy brands; here a good fire ever blazing"). This stamp was overprinted for use in Somalia:  |

No problem LaoPhil. Doing a duplicate posting is something many of us (including myself) have done...especially when a person is very busy. Here is a piece of U.S. postal stationery (Sc #U635/23) that the American Philatelic Society (APS) sent out to its members on a fund-raising campaign 25 years ago. "Nonprofit" inscription on indica puts a postal value of 5c on the envelope. I have always wondered, is this a first day cover just because the APS says it is? There is no USPS marking on the indica, nor elsewhere on the envelope.   |

Here is the 1.50 + .25 Fr value (Sc #B823) from Luxembourg's December 6, 1971 "Caritas" semi-postal set of 5 stamps of a Biblical/Nativity theme. Stamp depicts two young shepherds holding lambs.  |

On April 25, 1997 Finland issued this 4.30 markka stamp (Facit #1383) depicting a typical landscape in Archipelago National Park. The Park was established in 1983 and encompasses 500 square kilometers of mostly water and small islands off the southwest coast of the country. From wikipedia, "There are considerable areas of traditional agricultural landscapes within the National Park."   |
