This November 25, 2004 29c stamp (Sc #1180e) of The Netherlands is from the 'December stamps' (discounted postage for Christmas greetings) se-tenant block of 10. Stamp depicts sheep in the snow.  |

On October 7, 1970 Portugal issued this 2.80 escudos stamp (Sc #1078) to commemorate the centenary of the city of Covilha. From wikipedia, "Sometimes referred to as 'the town of wool and snow', Covilha is one of the main urban areas of the historical Beira interior region...A Royal Textile Factory was established in the city in 1763, and Covilha was granted city status on October 20, 1870 by king Luis I."  |

Here is Japan's October 12, 1966 seven yen 'New Year's Greeting' stamp (Sc #903) celebrating the Year of the Ram (1967). Stamp depicts an Ittoboro carved sheep. From kojeijapan.com, "Ichii woodcarvings (called Ichii itto bori in Japanese) are produced in the Hida region of Gifu prefecture, and are made only from the wood of Ichii (Japanese yew)...The craft is notable for the use of wood from Hida that is between four hundred to five hundred years old, being carved with only chisels, and not being colored in order to bring out the natural beauty of the wood grain."  |

This October 5, 2017 "forever" (1st class domestic letter rate, 49c at issue date) value of the USA is from a booklet of "Christmas Carols" stamps of 4 different designs. This "Silent Night" stamp (Sc #5218) from the set depicts a lamb, the Star of Bethlehem and lyrics from the carol.  |

On May 27, 1975 Bahamas issued a four-stamp set publicizing economic diversification on the islands. The 3c value (Sc #374) of the set depicts 'sheep husbandry'. From thebahamasweekly.com, "Cut and carry feeds in the Bahamas include jumbey, gum elemi, pigeon peas and sinnicord. These are often supplemented with imported corn or processed feed and hay, comprising alfalfa and other grasses."  |

On April 21, 1998 Australia issued a one pane, self-adhesive 'Farming in Australia' booklet of ten 45c stamps (2 x 5 designs), including this stamp (Sc #1656) showing sheep and a sheep shearer.  |

On October 15, 1986 Uruguay issued a pair of 20 new peso stamps featuring the country's Exports of Quality. One of these stamps (Sc #1224) features wool, and shows a symbolic sheep being hoisted for export.  |

This November 8, 1984 two franc stamp (Sc #1444) of Monaco is from the three-stamp set commemorating the 450th anniversary of the first edition of French writer, physician and philosopher Francois Rabelais's (1494-1553) Gargantua. Stamp depicts a scene from 'The Sheep of Panurge". From wikipedia, "...reference to Panurge occurs in the phrase mouton de Panurge' which describes an individual who will blindly follow others regardless of the consequences. This, after a story in which Panurge buys a sheep from the merchant Dindenault and then, as a revenge for being overcharged, throws the sheep into the sea. The rest of the sheep in the herd follow the first overviewed the side of the boat, in spite of the best efforts of the shepherd."   |

An Aland sheep is the subject of the Aland Islands's August 25, 2000 computer-vended stamps (Mi #11). These (Swiss) Frama type labels could only be purchased in four different values: 2.20, 2.60, 3.00 or 3.40 markkas, or as 2.30, 2.70, 3.20 or 3.50 mk beginning on January 2, 2001. The design went off sale on September 3, 2001.  |
