Specialist Auctions Describer
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Auction Describer to join our busy Auction team.
Candidates should have a strong general stamp knowledge including stamps of Great Britain and the British Commonwealth. Good I.T. skills are useful but not essential as training will be provided.
The ability to work in a team is important and a passion for the hobby is essential. This is an excellent opportunity to work for the most famous stamp dealer in the world and handle some of the rarest philatelic material.
Joining a busy and growing Auction team, the successful applicant should be able to evaluate collections quickly and accurately with an ability to identify rare material.
You would be responsible for describing and estimating lots for our auctions and helping to identify and value key material for future auctions.

Some describers can be irritating to the uninitiated, Fauna , Flora etc are sometimes inscribed on the stamp in Botanical names, then listed in the catalogue like "Foxglove" or "Asian Badger"
