I guess it's a "cut square/ cut out" of a George VI registered letter stationery

Hi Dan,

This is a cut-out from a first weight (2 ounce) stamped envelope.

Both this rate and this envelope were introduced in 1940.

The same die was also used on stamped to order envelopes.

Thank you all for your replies, is this cut out particularly common to find?

Lots of complete GVI envelopes available on eBay. Little collector interest in cut-to-shapes.

Little interest to those whom collect just normal stuff.
Big interest to those whom study.

If this is very rare, is it potentially worth anything?

And yes Rod that is perfectly fine with me, feel free to include it in your database! :)

Thanks for your approval.
Rare: In the sense it is not listed in the Internet's largest British postmark database.

Worth: Value is nebulous, its worth to a dedicated postmark collector would be varied, in an Australian context rare pmks can fetch $5 - say $200
Worth to dedicated students of Pmks and their history is enormous, but it doesn't then necessarily translate to $ terms.

My route would be to keep it with written details alongside.

Thank you for all the information rod,

It would be interesting to know just exactly how scarce this postmark is, I have looked around on the internet and I cannot seem to find any other examples of it.

I will definitely upload this to the Philatelic database.

In court, Huge Clockface with TUTBURY on the dial. (at 1 hour 51 minutes)
(Film with adverts)
Was going to get a screen grab, then deleted the file (Sheesh)
