This was in an armoured glass display cabinet at the Spink stand, next to a Plate 77 1d red. The latter is not so photogenic but ultimately more desirable, as there are only 4 known, rather than 100 of the poster child inverted Jenny. This is the nearest I'll get to either of them.

Please explain just how a horizontal and vertical guide line block occurs in a sheet of 100 stamps? Are not guide lines for cutting a press sheet into individual 100 stamp sheets?

I think this is a great question. Why were there guide lines in the middle of this 100 stamp pane?

OK , the reconstruction shows the guide lines in the middle. I still ask: Why? Were these guide lines used for the perforating of the sheet? That would now be my guess. Is my guess correct?

Tim - is the plate 77 being auctioned in the near-future, or was it just there as an exhibit?
