I was at the Winter Berries Forever first day ceremony today. It was a nice event and a huge contradiction as we baked in the Oklahoma heat and talked about winter berries.

My main collecting focus is the postal history of Osage County, Oklahoma. Today's ceremony was also the first time such an event ever happened in my county!

So rather than marking today as a first for this issue, I marked the day as the first for my county. Four stamp designs postmarked at four different Osage County post offices on the first day. It was a fun adventure for my wife and I. This issue will always be special to me!

Arrows2Atoms:

I would suggest that you contact Al Starwether, editor of First Days, the journal of the American First Day Cover Society and see if he would like to publish your report in an upcoming issue.

I'm sure he would be willing to help you if you're hesitant about writing about the first day ceremony. His email is editor@afdcs.org.

BTW, very neat and clean looking cachet. The AFDCS also has a cachet makers contest later in the year. You might want to enter into it. More information is found at http://www.afdcs.org/contest/cachetcontest.html

Hi Arrows:

Who designed the cachets and where were they printed. Very attractive!

Thank you for the kind words, I am looking to write up my experience. It was a fun day.

I designed the cachet. It was created in the simplest way: PowerPoint, make the slide the size of a #6-3/4 envelope, design using their tools, and then save the slide as a .pdf. I sent it to the Bartlesville Print Shop and they printed them.

My "First Osage County" inspiration was this National Airmail Week cover:
