Uss Bennington RPPC.

I came across a couple hundred 1900-1920 post cards.
This one jumped out at me.
Does anyone have any idea if this holds any value?

Hi JST375 and welcome to the forum. Pretty card, but what is a RPPC ? We have many folks that do speak little English and for that reason we try not to use abbreviations

Hi, sorry, rppc is an abbreviation that I picked up while doing some research.
It means real photo post card.

It is a real photo card so obviously better than the run-of-the-mill. But the image is small. It would be of interest to collectors interested in gunboats. Note that it is in drydock with damage from a recent boiler explosion on July 21; interesting subject. It was considered not worthy of repair and decommissioned October 31. The San Diego flag cancel is nothing special. Edge toning, small corner faults and perhaps the perfin reduce the value. With pluses and minuses, you'd probably have to sell this to establish value.

I acquired these cards from my mother who received them from the original recipient 40 years ago, they have been in her closet every since, there are around 200 cards in this collection. Unfortunately I really dont know what I have in terms of anything rare or desirable to collectors. It has been quite intriguing reading them as they are mostly all addressed to the same person. I believe this card is actually her son Walter, who took the picture of the bennington!

Technically, it is the front, just as the address and stamp are on the front of a cover, Uncle Walter is on the back.

Can anyone tell me about the perfin?
What is it for?
And I cant figure out what it means or stands for.
