I was asked about a couple of covers. One has Daniel Webster 1932 stamp tied with Aug 7 1932 Federal Hall Station Cancel. The cashet is George Washington Bicentennial Aug 7, 1789 of signing act creating War dept and Post office Dept and NW territory commission.
The first day of issue of this stamp was OCT 24, 1932.
Were these cancels available for philatelic use way after the actual dates? Ie, could this Aug 7, 1932 cancel have been applied in October? Or, is there some way this is a freakishly early use?
In this box, there is a similar one with the Wiliam Penn stamp.
Thanks
Chris
