I might suggest you spend a few usd and purchase the PSS catalogs of Bureau Precancels, new one due out this spring, and the new Town & Type, aka local Precancel Catalog to aid in your decision if you decide to collect. I been collecting Precancels for over 40 yrs, accumulating actually, but serious collecting over the last 25 yrs plus, and I use the catalogs as a bible. And after such a longtime I am still learning things. One example of something that took a while to sink in was handstamped precancels that are double printed, inverted, diagonal etc are not considered as rare or scarce or anything because they are applied by hand and any postal clerk can apply them in any manner they desire or accidentally apply by not looking at the device when they apply the precancel. However they are of reasonable interest to me, I am building a nice accumulation of them. Some of my favorite doubles are Oakland California that have both a Bureau and a Type applied by either Montgomery Wards or Sears and Robuck's at their mail order facility in Oakland. I have also found doubles from Oakland with 2 different Type's, local precancel, which make for very interesting research. However my favorite is the triple precancel, of 3 different on one stamp, likely what is called a favor for a collector, see picture.

I had 2 of these and this one pictured I sold and the buyer was very pleased to add it to their Kansas Collection. Happy Collecting
