Hello;
I have gotten some Golden Replicas with real stamps and postmarks and I like them. I understand that they are not much liked by collectors. But, they are FDCs. Any opinions of them?

If you enjoy them, that's all that matters... just don't pay too much for them.

Theyr'e not stamps. They're copies of stamps. Stamp collectors generally aren't very interested in things like this for that reason. Also, they were sold as high priced "collectibles" to unaware consumers who thought they were a kind of investment. They weren't. So they have a bad reputation for a reason.

Hello from Trench Town
Thank you for ya'lls response. I got a good deal. I just wondered how they can use them as vignettes on the left of the envelope and have a postmark on the real McCoy stamp in the upper right?
I know they are sold without covers to.

There is a fellow in my local club who collects these covers, cuts them apart, and then mounts them in a National album like real stamps. While he also collects in the more traditional way, he clearly enjoys his 'gold' collection. He says it makes a striking presentation and gets more "oohs and ahs" from non-collectors then his more typical collections. He told me he normally pays around 5 cents per cover for these.

I am with Dan, folks should collect whatever throws their switch. I am always more impressed with creative, thoughtful, and unusual collections then looking at another collection filled with the same stamps that I have seen for decade after decade.
