Fake. The pairs are obviously genuine, and any with a cert are good, but the others......I would have to see. |

I love the match & medicines, and have built a small, but nice, collection of them. There are some really cool designs on them.
Thanks for the link, revcollector! |

After the Antizzo auction and then the Gross postal history auction, I have to waive the white flag and surrender. Nice material that I can't bid on. |

I never have paid much attention to these but I was sucked in by the catalog presentation and will likely try for a few. The designs on some are quite striking as are the stories behind them. The soothing baby elixir that had too much morphine in it and killed thousands of babies and children is downright fascinating in it's own dark way. |

It should be noted that they call some stamps "extremely difficult to find in this condition" that really aren't (Lot 429, for example), and under describe some others (lot 426), calling it "unusual" in quality when in fact it is VERY rare to find this nice. Most examples look like an elephant sat on them. |

If lot 424 is fake from a perf stamp, and the buyer asks for extension for PFC, would the PF be very likely to agree? |

The unique Maryland stamp seemingly sold recently at Siegel. Did it fail to meet a reserve and actually did not sell? |

I think it did sell to one of the two collectors whose material this sale is comprised from. |

Thanks revcollector. Unfortunately I was not clear with my question. What I would like to know is what about this particular stamp that indicates it is a fake. I have a what I assume is a forged rouletted stamp where the perfs don't line up left-to-right. That was easy to spot. The stamp in lot 424 looks pretty good to me. I'd like to know what I am missing.
Thanks. |
