So the pages in the Classic section are exactly the same as those in Worldwide just not as many? |

Many thanks. That's saved me trawling through them trying to find the correct version! |

This is interesting - something I'd never thought about. I'll have to dig out my duplicates and try to separate the ports. Thanks, everyone. |

GeoffHa - My pleasure, treaty port collecting is a slippery slope, and if you decide to fully dive in, this book will be your "bible" and I highly recommend it. Once you buy this book, you are hooked! (it even looks like a bible) Linus A sample of my collection, showing Amoy... |

Lovely collection of stamps, thanks for sharing. I will have to get my Hong Kong stockbook out and start sorting! The Treaty Ports book is £150 on Amazon. Any chance you can post a scan ... ;) Seriously, I will have to try and track down a decent second hand copy. |

Thank you for the kind words. My map above is from this book. This book was originally published in 1961, but I have a copy of the 1991 reprint. I paid something like $150 US for it at a big stamp show in Chicago many years ago. I bought it new from Subway Stamp Supplies of Altoona, Pennsylvania, USA. They probably still sell it new. There is a lot of history and reading in it. Here is a scan from Amoy: |

Here is another chart from the book showing the early killer cancels in the second column. Some of these are hard to find and get expensive to buy. Rod will probably like this one for his records. Linus |

You nailed it Thanks Linus, Keeping all the relevant info of this thread in my "Treaty Ports" catalogue folder. Admire the way you have presented your items. I have one stamp, I'll try and find it with "Agent Ransack" You don't appear to have it. It is of Amoy, but with additional English "Szeiming" or similar. |

Here we go. Note: Newby Stamp collectors, this shows the importance of NOT soaking every stamp off piece, important information can get lost. Xiamen ? Local Amoy, surcharged, postally used ? These Local stamps were printed in Germany. Scott says the vignette = Ducks Stanley gibbons= Herons Mr. Dougan (possibly correct = Egrets) Source Philatelic Database. |

Rod-
Thank you for the kind words.
I have not seen that one, thanks for sharing. Always something new to learn with this hobby, and the hunt never ends. Nice stamps!

Quote:And for Goodwin, check out the link below for more info: http://goscf.com/t/65078Linus That's a great thread, thanks so much for posting. The illustrations of all the cancels will be very useful for decyphering some partial cancellations on the stamps that I have. This is clearly a far more involved and fascinating subject than I had realised when I first posted. |
