Mercury / Hermes appeared on the first 2 seals of the United States Postal Department in 1816 and 1820
Shown on Postmaster Commissions.

Mercury (being the gentleman) holding the Cornucopia, for Fortuna, the Goddess of luck (Greek =Tyche) (she holding the Ship's rudder)
on a French Canton issue.........
