Hey guys, I've never seen tagging like this, is this a different variety?

Hi,
Perhaps Al or Mark will reply, they know more than I do about tagging. But to my eye, this appears to be the tagging mat showing wear. You can see a very similar wear pattern on the example in the Stamp Smarter Tagging database here http://stampsmarter.com/features/TaggingView.html
Click on 'View By Catalog Number' button then navigate to #1895a, scroll down to the Narrow Block and see example of mat wear (click on image to see full size).

Don is correct - it is tagged by a worn out flexographic mat

Thanks Peter, sorry I forget to mention you as someone who would know. Won't happen again.

Several of you beat me to I it with Answers. I have many of these in used form where you can see the progression of wear pattern as it gets worse. Planned to mount with pictures someday. You can see one statmpon stamp starter site that is a particularly worn 1895a. This same wear pattern is on the 1905 caboose since the same mats were used for caboose.
