USUMBURA cancel (the capital) and a paquebot cancel. I find it tough to find used stamps in any case and would appreciate seeing more.

Pro juventute stamps (in many countries) were issued to raise finance for charity purposes related to the youth (at least, officially).
I do not think this issue was aimed to raise finance for Olympic athletes - Rwanda did not participate in Summer Olympics until 1984 in Los Angeles, and Ruanda Urundi did (and could) not participate, principally - it had never had an authorized National Olympic Committee.
So, they just exploited a popular theme in stamps.

I put together Ruanda-Urundi material on leaves a few years ago, gleaned from various collections I picked up. Apologies for the muck on the scammer - the butler is now polishing it for future use. In some cases, the main page is followed by another with a few used examples.

Starting in the approved manner with some forgeries of scarcer stamps -

That would be Mrs Butler from next door, right ?

Lovely pages, and collection Geoff
That about covers most of the discipline, for any new collector of this territory.

A lot of the CDS seem similar, perhaps CTO material?
Thanks for such a great contribution.
My work here is done.

GeoffHa, well done! I am truly impressed, having seen many values here that I have never seen.

In both early and in late issues, cto or favor-cancelled are around as is the case for the "other" colony, the Belgian Congo. No surprise for definitives and postage dues. One would think that would make such stamps common for both countries, especially as sets. Not so for Ruanda-Urundi, apparently, and even not all that much for the Belgian Congo. As someone who has had his fill of cto from the 1960s-1970s, I'll buy Ruanda-Urundi cto just to have the stamp.

Thank you both. I seem to remember I bought a few lots of Belgian Colonies to assemble these and my Belgian Congo pages. They probably pop up more frequently in Europe than in the US. One sometimes finds perfect, central cancels on Colonial issues - perhaps made by arrangement with dealers in the individual Imperial metropolis?
