On December 5, 1949 Ireland issued this 1 d stamp (Hib #C35) commemorating the centenary of the death of poet James Clarence Mangan (1803-1849).

This 80 yen value (Sc #2470) of Japan is from the June 1, 1995 'Summer Greetings' booklet of five, self-adhesive stamps of different designs. Stamp depicts a flower holding a pencil.

Thailand commemorated International Letter Writing Week by issuing a set of four stamps (Sc #s 365-8) of two different designs on October 9 of that year. The 25 and 50 satangs depict a close-up view of a pen nib over an envelope, while the one and two baht values show a pen and letters circling a globe.

On May 11, 1984 the Republic of Korea issued this 70 won stamp (Sc #1370) to publicize Workers' Cultural Festival. Various tools, including brushes and a pencil, are shown on the stamp.

On April 5, 1996 Japan issued this 80 yen stamp (Sc #2517) as part of its 'The 50 Memorable Postrwar Years' series. Stamp depicts Prince Minister Shigeru Yoshida signing the San Francisco Peace Treaty on September 5, 1951 at the War Memorial Opera House (Presidio) in San Francisco, California. The Treaty became the basis for the end of the formal occupation of Japan.

Here is Colombia's March 24, 1969 5 pesos airmail stamp (Sc #C512) commemorating the 20th anniversary of University of the Andes. Stamp shows a red pen nib superimposed over a microscope.

From wikipedia, "Los Andes has consistently been regarded as the best Colombian university and has been considered one of the top 5 Latin American universities."

This October 21, 1945 18 kurus value (Sc #932) of Turkey is from the 'National Census' set of 4 identically-designed stamps printed in different, monochrome colors.
