hello all.

Im having another go at cataloging the stamps I have. This one just doesnt look altogether accurate? Im sure its a common stamp and probably a common error. I wondered if there was a particular number/letter thanks in advance

Note the vignette (in black) does not fit snugly into the frame, nor was it ever meant to. To avoid having to perfectly match both parts that were printed separately, some leeway/white space is given between the two to compensate for misregistration. Misregistration of this sort is not an error.

I've just found one of these with the exhibition cancel!
I have many many covers and Stamps of all varying highs and lows, but this one is nice!

The original stamp in this thread has a small portion of a Doremus machine cancel, used at over 100 towns similar to this complete sample:

Many of the US expos of this era had machine cancels with slogans to advertise the expo before and during the expo. And the expo postal stations often had both a variety of handstamps and a canceling machine or two. Here is a sampling of advertising cancels all from Barry machines, several others exist for this expo:

I've seen these shifts referred to with different names. Maybe this is a "high train".
