I have these two highly amusing cancelled stamps. The second one may not be suitable for younger viewers.

Have a wonderful day.

My that's a BIG!...buffalo. Any more and he'd have to learn to walk on forelegs only.

Except that it looks like someone stepped on his nose, I can't see the joke on Jackson. Wiseguys used to take a marker to the old style small portrait US $20 bill and make Jackson look like Hitler. It was pretty effective if you didn't look too close. I googled for an example but none came up.

The buffalo had a "film" career for a number of years.

BTW way guys..You got it wrong.

BISON: Has a goatee/beard
BUFFALO: Has no goatee/beard

Bison's are a natural animal to North America.
Buffalo's were brought over from Africa I believe.

That is a BISON on that stamp.

Just a thought...haha

Robert

wert- I'm afraid you are wrong. The creature depicted on that particular stamp is a very rare American hybrid- the John Holmes buffalo.

The Animal shown on the stamp is an American Buffalo.

From wikipedia;

The American bison or simply bison (Bison bison), also commonly known as the American buffalo or simply buffalo, is a North American species of bison that once roamed North America in vast herds.

From the Smithsonian Postal museum

Bison is correct. Buffalo are from South Asia or Africa.

Wiki and Smithsonian are perpetuating a fallacy. Though Bison bison is correct.
