Rod Coming back to your 1960 and 1961 Kinderzegels in this post: http://goscf.com/t/70915&whichpage=5#717177.Once I realised what they could be, it did not take long to confirm my suspicion. This link shows the 1962 version and a 1971 one. http://www.kindmax.nl/Kinderpostzeg...lgebied.htmlThese are known as 'deurzegels.' 'Deurzegel' translates to door label. Among the ways in which the youth welfare stamps are sold is a school campaign. Children from the elder years of primary school got an envelope. With this, they went from door to door signing people up for a sheetlet of the youth welfare stamps or postcards. The buyer would write up his name and address together with the order. The envelope came attached with these door labels. When someone ordered something, the child would tear of a label and give it to the person that ordered the items. He could then stick the label on the door, door post or doorbell to show he had ordered stamps. Other children would know someone had beaten them to that address. - Imagine one child after another calling at the door asking "would you like to order youth welfare stamps" as long as you did not have such a door label. The school collected the envelopes with the orders. The post would fill them with the ordered items. The schoolchild returned to the buyer to deliver the item and receive money. The envelope with the money was than collected by the school and returned to the post. The charity surcharge would then be donated to the charity fund responsible for the campaign. Note: the design van Marcel van Woerkom was for the foundation that organised the youth welfare stamp action, not UNICEF. |

Concerning the Kinderzegels:
I was one of those kids back in the late seventies. I had fun and felt pride trying to sell as much as possible for charity/welfare.
Afterwards, you would recieve a sticker, showing you had participated. The sticker showed part of the design of the stamps.
Nowadays kids are no longer allowed to go door by door alone. they have to be with at least 2. Times have changed. |

I also went from door to door. This was in the very early eighties. I cannot remember ever getting a sticker. But this website I posted a link to also mentions it. |

Wow guys, this makes me homesick! I used to sell all of them, childrens stamps, summerstamps and Red Cross stamps. The latter only in years they were issued of course. And I can not remember the sticker either!

If you google for: Kinderpostzegels sticker.
Adding the word bedankt(thank you) helps narrowing it down.
You should find several pictures. |

Amsterdam local stamp duty. This will have been affixed to an official document issued or legalised. The cancellation shows the arms of Amsterdam as you can see on the stamp itself. On a document legalised during the final days of the German occupation: |
