Hello

I'm new to philately and I've really enjoyed looking at the USA Philately catalogs I can find online. I only seem to find 4-5 issues however. Does anyone have copies of the PDFs on google drive or dropbox? Thanks

I wonder if it would be a violation of copyright to obtain these as PDFs and then share them freely? That might be one reason for the radio silence in the post.

Although it is painstakingly slow, I tried getting older Phialtelic catalogues by using the archive ***removed***. For the hell of it, I was able to download the 2015 second quarter catalog (Maya Angelou was on the cover) with no problem.

I just noticed that once you have one, the page with the link to the pdf can be forwarded/reversed to different time stamps and you can quickly get other catalogues. So once you're there, you can go to town downloading.

While not the .pdf you are referencing, something I use is the national website.

https://about.usps.com/newsroom/national-releases/

This provides information on most issues since 2009.

Hi all

I tried what it's said ***removed*** with no luck. Is anyone able to help me with that? I would love to download old issues of USA Philatelic Catalog.

Thanks!

Since they're freely available from USPS, I don't see any legal issues with sharing them.

The challenge seems to be:
1) the USPS site doesn't have back issues
2) finding someone who had downloaded and saved the back issues

The David Straight Memorial Philatelic Union Catalog at the APRL has multiple hits of where some articles can be found:

http://1549.sydneyplus.com/final/Portal.aspx

I ran the search using "USA Philatelic" (with quotation marks, otherwise you get several hundred unrelated hits).

This is the ideal type of effort that can be resolved as a community collaborative project.

I suspect that the participants in this thread, as well as others who frequent SCF regularly, have at one time or another, subscribed to the paper editions, or downloaded and preserved the digital PDF editions.

There is another thread on SCF, dated in 2013, on this same topic. One member there mentioned having issues from 2012-2013 in PDF form, but I noticed that his last post was 2017, os he may not longer be active in the hobby.

If everyone works together, I'll bet we can locate a full run of these back issues, and find a central location where they can be made available to everyone.

I'll begin with the following offer.

I have two issues of Stamps, the predecessor publication dated in 1995.

I have perhaps 20 older issues of USA Philatelic dated between 1996 and 2005. It's not a complete run, but consists of issues that I received, and saved (in a location I could find them). I may have others.

If a collaborative project get started, and it can pull together a good run of these to start with, I'll make these available for scanning -- and a good home to whoever would agree to scan them and make them available to everyone. If there is interest in such a project, I'll prepare a list of what issues I have and post it here.

I also seem to have a 2014 issue (Vol 19 Q2) in PDF format. Not sure why

I'm not a stamp collector, so this is not a project I wish to "lead", but will support it with what I have.

Mike

Stamp Smarter would seem to be a good place to publish these, folks can send them to me and I'll get it done.

Don,

Thank you for your gracious offer to host this project on Stamp Smarter.

Here is a list of the issues which I have available.

Those of you with other paper or PDF copies, please include a list here so everyone will know what issues are still needed.

Thanks,

Mike

I am fairly new to the US discipline,
This may be out of context, but I have this very heavy tome called
"The Postal Service Guide to US Stamps" (2007)
What a brilliant piece of work this is !
It is like a full colour edition of the Scott Catalogue, every stamp illustrated. Scott numbers.

Not sure from whence it came, maybe Moderator Kirk, sent it to me?
If so Many Thanks, used often.

Here are the paper copies I have been able to locate in my files:

The 1997 issues are very odd - with multiple cover images, yet identical insides, as far as I see.

I should have more recent ones, but filing them is not a priority.

Add: And even earlier are the double-sided lists from the Philatelic Agency, this one "PSA 152", dated October 21, 1940.

Do you have the bandwidth to scan what you have? If not, are you willing to send me the hardcopies so I can scan them and then return them to you?
