Suspect partial die edge has splintered & partially rotated. ANY observation welcomed.

Interesting. Can we see a scan of the back?

I believe that there was some foreign debris on the plate when printed. The anomaly carries through "Penny" and has an organic shape more or less.

The bottom perfs have a strangeness near the end of the anomaly. To me, it has the initial appearance of a small preprinting paper crease that has since been opened up.

John Becker,

Initially, thought similar...I couldn't be sure a crease was not the culprit, the northern end of the red line & the stamp rear brought doubts about a crease to some degree. I seen 1d's with partial firmer line bordering the stamp thus semi-convinced the die suffered damaged in downwards motion at some stage.....'possibly'.
