Sadly, someone wanted this more than me, as I was just outbid.

Pretty weird stamp, I think.

great label, I would put more in line with Ireland labels.. the land of the little people, fairies and leprechauns. The light house does bring to image the NZ life insurance stamps. Hope fully this does not offend anyone here but there are some great movies that cover this topic.

Hello all. I am wondering if anyone has any insight into this stamp - its history or origins. I recently discovered an example, printed in pale rose, lurking in one of my stockbooks that I bought some years ago and haven't sorted yet.

It's possible it's from Fairyland amusement park, which opened in 1950 near Oakland, Calif. I have a cover from there.

Doesn't it say 1908 on the bottom left?

This is certainly from the 1908-1920 period, as Rob Roy points out. The early 1920s was when spiritualism peaked in the USA.

From Wikipedia, "By 1897, spiritualism was said to have more than eight million followers in the United States and Europe, mostly drawn from the middle and upper classes."

I might have been mistaken: "Legends from Fairyland" was first published in 1908 and the illustration on the stamp might have been taken from there.

Additional information.

Just found.

This stamp also exist in a bleu grey color.

An intense battle with my scanner prevents me from showing a picture.(The scanner is winning at the moment)

Same design also not well centered.

Greetings Johan
