Many years back Scott Catalogue dropped a large section of Colombian States from their listings and albums.

I have the very old album Scott Specialty pages with the deleted stamps. These pages are rare and highly sought after.

I can send someone photo copies of these pages if you be willing to redo them and send me a set of redone pages; about 10 pages.

These stamps are still listed in foreign catalogues like Michel.

Here is a sample page

For the knowledge base,
all are available from Steiner, if that be your taste.

If they're to be used with other Colombia page of that size, it would be nice to see them redone on Scott Specialty-size pages rather than on smaller 3-ring notebook pages where that kind of layout would be way too overcrowded. One way is to simply photocopy them onto 10 x 11 1/2" pages (Scott Specialty). If the page color is similar and you can get them punched to fit a Specialty binder, you're in business. Such blank pages with holes already punched in them can be purchased from the website albumpages[dot]net fairly inexpensively. When I've had older, worn, or dirty Scott pages that's what I've done. It's hard to tell them from the original pages. They fit right in with other pages, and so you have brand new pages again where new pages don't actually exist anymore.

Since these are pretty specialized pages for collectors of Colombia, and they're aren't very many of them, and those who also collect the early Colombian States, I imagine the demand for them has got to be very small. But someone could make a few sets of copies and sell them for a few dollars to cover photocopying fees and postage. About 50c a page is what that would cost. I think I have these same pages in an old, unused Colombia album, so I'm probably set.

Is that permitted, meaning are they still copyright by Scott? I'm pretty sure you can make copies for your own use as replacements after purchasing them. You'd just be making a new set to replace the old, unusable set that is no longer sold. There's no way to even buy a new set of pages. And I'd think that they would have gone out of copyright after all these years. Plus they've been abandoned by Scott now, so maybe not a problem even if you sold them for a few bucks. But I am no lawyer.

Free supplemental pages to add to the Steiner Colombia States Album can be downloaded from https://www.thestampweb.com/albums/free-downloads

The pages include stamps missing from the Steiner album for Antioquia, Cauca, Santander, Tolima & Magdalena states. The pages have been designed to closely mimic the Steiner format.

The pages may be downloaded as ready to print PDF files, or as AlbumEasy files to allow for easy modification.

The stamps are fairly crowded on the original page with stamps butted together. Do you really want to reproduce this crowded format on any single page? If you use black mounts, it may look even more crowded.

Hi Al,
The pages are not a direct reproduction of Timm's old Scott pages but are formatted to match the Steiner pages.
Also, these pages only include what is missing from the Steiner Colombia States album so still need to be used in conjunction with the Steiner album.

Here is one of my pages:

These pages are Great. If you are a serious collector of Colombian Stamps, you need these pages. These pages cover areas that are NOT available anywhere else.

By making these pages Clive is saving a piece of Colombian Postal
History and should be commended for doing so.

It is true that most of these stamps are no longer listed in Scott, Michel and Stanley Gibbons but once were. Many of the stamps are now being called Postmaster provisionals or local issues. The stamps are out there on the market for sale and you'll even find some listed on eBay.

Well done Clive, Bravo!!!

I used to have a set of Scott South American albums from the 1960s that included pages for Colombian states. My Gibbons Ideal albums (facsimiles of fastbound, 1930s albums) have pages for them. What happened tochange the practice of decades?

Research for one thing. Unfortunately Post Office records are often incomplete or outright missing for many Latin American countries.
As albums and catalogues grew larger, space in them was always at a premium. Many of the stamps were reclassified and started being called Postmaster provisionals or local issues or private issues. Even with many being found on cover and postally used. Records of these stamps are scarce at best if they exist at all.

Scott, for example, sort of cleaned house of questionable material opting to list only Main Stream material which is favored by most collectors. This left out many collectors of this specialized material.

Most unfortunately information about these stamps is difficult to find and the majority of it is in Specialized and often very expensive books. Pages for these stamps were no longer being made and haven't been for 60 years; until Clive's pages.

Another unfortunate aspect is quite often sellers of these stamps have no idea what they are and what's the actual market value for the stamps. Way too many vendors think, "I've never seen this stamp before so it must be worth a fortune" and ask ridiculous prices for them.

I have over half of the stamps on these pages but it's taken me 50 years to get them. I still am on the hunt!

Agreed.
Publishers are wise to identify casual collectors as being their primary audience. Specialists or those collectors who wish to dig deeper into addition issues should recognize that it is beneficial that publishers use this approach. Specialized catalogs and album pages which include stamps casual hobbyists do not collect increase costs for everyone. Of course having specialized catalogs and albums pages which are far more comprehensive are beneficial and great for the hobby too.
