I have these three Nicaraguan stamps that I believe are telegraph stamps. Maybe specimen or proofs? I can't find them in Glaves or online references. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Hi rrogers,

This was the 1884 design for postage stamps.

They were also overprinted with TELEGRAFOS at the top for use as telegraph stamps.

I don't have a catalogue for Nicaraguan postal history but I would guess these are Seebeck reprints of newspaper wrapper or envelope stamps.

As far as I'm aware they didn't reprint the complete postal stationery, just the stamp with wide margins like this.

Hi Nigel,
would these be actually 1894 series?

"Seebecks" Nicaragua. Hamilton Bank Note Company?

Yes indeed Rod, my typo. :(

This was the Seebeck period when issues were valid typically only for a year, after which time Seebeck's firm had the right to sell on any remaining stock.

They also printed and sold lots of reprints.
