Don: That's neat! I assume there are no postal regulations about what can't be covered by stamps on a box/envelope. It would be totally dispiriting to go to the post office with a box like yours, only for the clerk to say something to the effect of "you can't but stamps on the bottom." Wasted money. |

Seeing Rod's envelope reminds me of a time about fifteen years ago when telephone card collecting was a big thing. A friend of mine would make theses huge exchanges, anything from 100-500 cards at a time; big weight = big postage. He found a way to crook the system by overlapping used stamps on his packages with the overlapping stamp covering the cancellation on the stamp below it. The stamp on top would be an uncancelled used stamp. Postage from Cyprus in those days was a very simple affair - overseas postage was either airmail or SAL, one of two zones and weight so a lot of people and especially collectors would prep their packages and envelopes at home, especially if they were prepping a philatelic cover or sending something to another collector who had requested certain stamps to be used as well as saving time at the PO counter. This went on for years until one day, not sure how or if they had caught on, they simply refused to accept his package and subsequently any package/envelope that was franked with overlapping stamps. |

I ordered a book from the USA and it came smothered in stamps, of which this the the largest block. I didn't note the others and I am sure this is not the largest of anything, but I was impressed nonetheless! |

Quote: rod222 - here's some possible varieties for the stamps. You have been busy with the Magnifier I'll save those images under the Scott number, when I get the chance to do the same. Thank you. TIP: As the stamp I showed were all Gum Arabic or otherwise, they will soak off without problems. Self Adhesive stamps, cannot be removed, whatever release agent is employed, leaves a gum remnant on the stamp below it, so futile to separate overlapping self adhesives. (In my experience) |

Is there a postal regulation or a preference on where tracking labels on envelopes are placed by USPS employees? Reason for my question is that if one were to place a large amount of stamps on an envelope and present it at a USPS post office counter, where on the envelope should one leave room for the clerk to apply the tracking label? |

Incoming box from China containing motorcycle parts about 30 x 24 x 14 in size. Mad Marker got another one. Bonus question: How many stamps are on this box? My count is 337! Label placed on top of stamps. |

Regarding snowy121's envelope which looks elegant, where (based on postal regulation or USPS preference) on the envelope should one leave room for a USPS post office counter clerk to apply a tracking label? Upper left, middle left etc..? |

My local post office has(to my slight horror) placed the sticker partially overlapping stamps on multiple occasions for packages I am sending. They were not packages for stamp collectors so I didn't say anything but it suggests they can do that. They do seem to want to put on the same side as the address but that is about all. |

Wow! You originally pointed this out in May and it's now close to Xmas. And it's still available!! With free shipping even. How can a set of rare stamps like that, vintage-even, go un-snagged! If I hadn't spent all of my money (and then some) earlier in the month, I'd go for this. Listing fees are often free for the first X items. That must be the case here, eh? |

I'm going to suggest that density counts as much as stamp count. I have a 6x9 inch envelope that arrived in the last few months. While the front does have some clear space, check out the back! I blacked out the addresses and tracking bar code. Note the stamp that actually wraps around the edge, now cut in half. every stamp has a postmark. On the back, some stamps were affixed slightly over the edge of the envelope and did not fare well. |
