a 9 upside down strike?

It's a London Inland cancel as NSK has said, but I wouldn't like to say what the numeral is.

Nope:

3: Pr = 1%
5: Pr = 99%
9: Pr = 0%

(9 is not listed with 2 bars above and below the diamond, nine besides the diamond, with the 5th aligning with the corners and all thick.)

Compare 3.0 and 5.N. Almost certainly the latter. 9 does not have the correct bars.

So im ready to put this one in the box for later - much later. However I've been trying to Plate. I think its Alph 1, but the shorter bottom on the horizontal L has me stumped. And the stuck left check letter doesnt help.

Curious - LL I think. I've looked at the DL's also. I was thinking LL Plate 50 or 59 but have nixed them both. Ideas?

I looked at the DL and LL stamps for alphabet 1 and couldn't find a satisfactory match. The Ds look too big in the imprimatur sheets compared to your stamp.

Whatever the left letter is, it fits comfortably in the square. It looks like it's centered to the left and well centered vertically.

You'd have to check every L stamp from plates 46 to 131 which will be time consuming, to say the least.

So I squared up the negative image and measured 6+ 4+ 3+ 8+

I left the b measurement as a wildcard as I was not sure of it. Spot on a,c and d and b returned 5+

Yes, the LL plate 72 is a very good candidate
