Just got this one. Your drunk Uncle Sam, or at least the inspector was. Colors shifted, miscut and die cuts shifted. It was recently in Linn's. |

Bookbndrbob - that is a perforation shift. It's a different type of shift error (vs color misregistrations), and is typically a more common occurrence. Cool though.
Eyeonwall - awesome! I think that one is going to be sought after over time. I missed the article in Linn's...

It's a good question what happened to quality control? The same issue applies to the service we receive from mail delivery. Just got a Christmas card yesterday that was mailed December 11 from California. Lately I see items delivered to the wrong state, not even close. It reminds me of when I moved to Bosnia (Sarajevo) and some of my things were "Shanghaied to Shanghai" - literally someone sent those things an extra how many ever miles before they finally arrived weeks later. |

I sell cremation urns and I had one that got shipped all the way to Australia and then redirected to the proper address in Hawaii! 4 weeks later. no explanation from USPS. This is quite common. I have one right now going to Canada from Chicago and it is sitting in the Miami postal facility for 3 weeks. Why did this go south to Florida to ship north?? |

It went to Florida because of a hardware problem on the package sorter. The maintenance of all the mail equipment has been lacking due to people out with Covid quarantines. |

Picked this one up at the APS show in Chicago. Engraved black shifted up courtesy of a pre-print paper fold. Unfortunately whoever opened up the fold created a tear along the fold below the 8c of the lower right stamp, but it is still quite unusual. |

re: Tea Party block The perforations are correct, so the unfolding happened during production - between and printing and the perforating stages, rather than post-sale damage by a collector. |

JB - you are of course correct, and as such the damage is less troubling. |

This one isn't quite so modern (it came from a block I bought earlier this year) The eagle has landed. |
