Doesn't look to be a rengraved sea horse to me, note the lack of diagonal hatching around the chin. Is that what you meant Laurie?

No, that is the re-engraved version. Per Scott, "Can be distinguished by the crossed lines in background of portrait" which this one clearly has. Relatively common, but a nice example. This one may sell. Good luck.

Re-engraved: diagonal lines added to horizontal lines in medallion.


Original engraving: only horizontal lines in medallion.
