Hello everyone,
Real excitged to be here to learn, and explore. I was handed down the stamp collection I have now when I was about 10 years old back in the 70's. I never really did anything with it. I kept it safe and tucked away. Just recently I dug it out thinking I would start getting into it.. and boy have I. I'm hot into it..

I've discovered that a good source for old stamps are Antique shops. So On my days off I've been making day trips around the little towns here in Central VA searching for stamps. I've made some good purchases of old stamps.

I'm looking forward to chatting with you, picking your brains (have lots of questions) and just having fun.

Anyone from Va here?
Dave

Collecting for the enjoyment of collecting, whatever that might be, is the name of the game. Don't hesitate to ask questions especially if you need basic information and especially more advanced sources of information for any possible topic. You should be able to find folks on this board a little further along on their collecting journey glad to share experiences.

I am a postal history collector and collect stamps on cover with all of the related postal markings to boot. Please leave stamps on their covers and especially post cards until you check them out further. Many stamps are just common items by themselves but many factors more interesting and valuable when on the items they road on thru the mails.

Personally, I am always looking for registered mail items and items to or from Indiana. My grandmother gave me a post card sent to her cousin from he father's general store post office counter back about 1905 when I was in HS. The rest is history and sixty plus years of collecting pleasure.

Best regards, Russ

Russ

Experienced stamps need a home too. I'd rather have an example that is imperfect than no example.
I collect for enjoyment, not investment.
