I have some US 32 cent yellow rose stamps (1996 I believe). They are peel and stick, and are from a roll. They are cut incorrectly, with about 25% of the top of the stamps where the bottom should be, and the other 75% above. I greatly appreciate the feedback. Have a blessed day.

They are what we call "mis-slit' and they do command a premium. Especially if one or more stamps have a plate number, a small number in the middle of the stamp, under the design.

Thank you, Pillar. I'll unroll them and see if it has numbers.

Peter (sorry for the incorrect name earlier). No numbers. It is 45 of a roll - I guess originally it was 50. Again, thanks for the feedback.

If I understand your detailed description correctly, this is SCOTT # 3054. It was issued in August 1997.

According to PNC3's Yellow Rose details, it was sold in coils of 100. A 4-digit plate number appears on every 24th stamp. There are twenty different known plate numbers.

This specimen has plate # 5566.

I do not collect for monetary value, and therefore I cannot speak to the value of this stamp's printing flaw. Though, I would agree it should receive a premium price.

If the plate number is on every 24th stamp, your roll of 45 should have 1 and probably 2 plate numbers. You should recheck.

Just to follow up - I looked again closely, and there are no numbers at the bottom of any of the stamps. Is it possible that in production of peel and stick stamps, a sheet is run in which only the bottom row has the numbers.

They are more commonly called miscut, and if you have a strip of 45 there has t be a plate number as they were printed every 24 stamps on this issue as someone else has already pointed out. Check again. Only the roll from the top row of the web could have no plate number if the miscutting was in the direction that shifted the design down - on the top row it would produce a blank area at top and push the plate number down onto the roll below it, but you said there was design t both the top and bottom, so there has to be a plate number.
I've bought a couple pf misperfed rolls of 100 for $100. Miscuts might be worth a bit more.
