Hi all! I am getting ready to start going through some Swiss stamps. I try to read up on some of the things before I tackle them so I am not going in totally blind. On the numbers in question, 244-246 have the greenish granite paper and the 284-286 have the cream granite paper. It says that the green coating is faded away from most examples. Besides putting them under a microscope looking for the colored fibers on the back of the stamps, is there another way to tell the difference between the 2 types of papers if the greenish coating is faded away? I thank you in advance.
Baker - I'd call myself an intermediate when it comes to CH stamps, but have found that the threads can often be seen (on the reverse side) without a microscope. I would appreciate seeing a photo of your stamps once sorted.
