I received this stamp in a lot that had a variety of other Worldwide stamps, and I am curious about what it is.

I assume it is some kind of revenue stamp, but I don't know what country it is. Possibly Turkey, considering the currency?

It doesn't look like anything I've seen in catalogues, and a google search wasn't being very helpful either.

Any information would be appreciated!

Thanks!

These stamps are bogus private printings, created in the 1920's in Constantinople. There are many color types. There are about 60 types. .They were cataloged in the Yvert up to 1930 but subsequently deleted when their bogus origins were revealed.
There are 3 types of stamps, numeral types, small ships & large ships.

Huh!

Its history is interesting, even though though it's bogus.

Thank you for the info.

I don't have many bogus stamps, but now I'm curious... Does a catalogue exist for bogus stamps of the world? It seems like someone would have made one at some point....
