This Mi # 600 stamp shows a deformation of the letter M in the lower left. Is it plate flaw type II?

cupram,

Michel does say "eingekerbt" or notched. and it is in the correct position.
I would think the notch doesn't have to go all the way through the M to count as a II

Experienced stamps need a home too. I'd rather have an example that is imperfect than no example.

You can have an anomaly that looks very much like a listed/recognized plate flaw, but is not. This has happened to me on at least one occasion. So, When there is a question, the only way to really know what you have is to have the stamp examined by a BPP expertizer.

I agree with bookbndrbob. It looks like a good candidate but you won't know for sure unless you get a BPP certification.

Hi Dan,
Your statement that the position is correct led me to research the stamp with my minimicroscope.
The 2 horizontal lines caught my attention.(not very good photo)
The stamp is printed in offset and I think that the flaw is not caused in the "plate cylinder" but by the existence of a small scratch in the "offset blanket" cylinder (rubber blanket).
A small relative axial displacement of the two cylinders can lead to total or partial cutting of the left M leg.
Notice the accumulation of ink up and down the cut.
Any opinion is helpful to me.
