Taft 4 Cent Pre Cancel Error?

The word YORK looks mis-spelled. What do you guys thunk? Error?

Looks under inked - not an error in my opinion
But the word "think" is mis-spelled {-:

Not an error. A lot of these precancels are found inverted and I don't get excited about it.

Hunter this is a Double Line Electro aka DLE, and appears the sheet of stamps shifted as it was printed thus moving the precancel to the right and the "K" into the perfs. This occurs in many large cities where the demand for precancels was hi, in the millions.

Wow I was impressed by your replied knowledge. Thank you so much for this info. On a value stand point, have any clue of the value?

Please note the balance of the letter "K" on the edge of the left hand perforation (actually it belongs to the stamp immediately to the left on the pane of 100 stamps that were pre-cancelled with the NY overprint).

I have bought many "pre-cancels" like this one in volume for 2-3 cents each. The underlying stamp (without the cancellation) can be bought in volume at 3 for a penny. E-bay lists many multiple offerings.

A while back I came across a few of these in my general stamp collection. Upon investigation, I discovered a whole new subset of stamp collecting. Pre-cancels can be very exciting (well, within reason....Ha, Ha!).

Greg I have an entire box of pre-cancels. Never really looked at all of them. Thank you so much for the info. I will check the website out.
