Newb here and new to stamps. I inherited a stamp collection. I'm probably the first person to go through it in decades. Found many early 20th Washington stamps. Turns out, they're really difficult to identify! Looking for help and advice. Thanks!

Welcome.
You can find more information on your stamps here https://stampsmarter.org/1847usa/1847Home.html
Start with the 'Visual Identifiers' buttons on the link above. Site also has a wealth of other information including an Illustrated Glossary and a 'How To' section.

Welcome to the forum. Washington and Franklin stamps are a challenge for any collector. Always assume that you have the most common issue (that is why you have so many) and start reading/studying those stampsmarter pages listed above. You can use the search function on this page as well. Plenty of good reading out there.
