Wow, I would never have imagined that this was a postal stamp, rather than some kind of label. (It honestly looked to me like a matchbox label, so go figure!)
I had to dig around a bit, and it turns out it is also listed in Scott (although not illustrated): Scott 1002. The 2017 cv (the latest edition I have right now) is $18.00 mnh and $13.50 used.
However, and here is my question: the stamp set (Sc 999-1002) is listed as perf 11½, whereas both the examples from the original poster and from Rodney look decidedly imperf. Scott makes no mention of an imperf version. So, are these examples actually imperf, or were just cropped to the design area? |

Just went and dug out the Michel. There's no mention of an imperf set there either.
However, one small note: Michel identifies the perf as 11¼. |

Agreed, scissors. Dave, I just loaded the OP stamp, for the use of members here (same mutilated stamp image ) From my collection Sc#1002 1976 A459 110m Horus (Hippo) Why do stamp designers, still use Gold lettering? It never was any good. |

Ok, thanks, Rodney, I see. I had thought those were 2 different examples, in which case it seemed like a variety.
Thanks for loading that original image in here. Makes sense for posterity's sake. |

Thank you for posting that additional example from your collection. Now I can make out the country name (barely). You're right -- gold was not a good look here. |
