The 1882 water mark is a single star [SG #34] The 1926 watermark is of several stars [SG #69] However, I can see single stars on some of my stamps. But some are centred and others are of centre. With stamps with the off-centred 'single star' I cannot see any mark that would indicate another star and so be identified as a SG69 watermark. Question 1] Are both SG34 & SG69 stars the same size? Question 2} Can I safety assume that an off-centred star is a type 69. QWuestion 3] Some of my George V stamps do not show any watermark whether this is due to fouled stamp-back or what I do not know. Any and all help welcome regards Tony
1. No. SG watermark type 34 is larger than type 69. Type 34 large star watermark occurs 256 times in a sheet whereas there are 964 type 69 multiple star watermarks in the stamp sheet having same size.
2. No.
3. Some of the Br. India 1911-22 GV de la Rue issue definitives do not show watermark, because of the spacing between two stars.
