They are actually rather common. Vitale took over the E.R. Vanderhoof stock and sold out of it for years.

There was a large supply of the checks at one time and he used them for advertising purposes. You will find other imprinted revenue checks used for similar purposes, but this is the one most commonly found. They are actually collectible in their own right.

A well known stamp dealer ad. There are some revenue taxpaids circa 1889 that have an ad for a Trenton NJ dealer, E. B. Sterling.

The ad on the back was printed many years later. Still, quite collectible.
