I do get a sense there is a strong resistance to change here :-)

I am not really for or against the like button, however when Netflix changed from a 5 or 6 stars rating system to a straight up/down like/dislike situation, I can tell you I am still very frustrated and disappointed in the loss of distinction it provides. Very few people vote for Dislike, so you get likes for anything from mediocre to very good. Still drives me crazy a year or two later !

"little food pellet for the poster's soul." Very nice! No doubt BF Skinner and his pigeons smile although I suspect neither had much use for the concept of the soul themselves.
