US stamps are not my usual area of focus, but I have acquired a #147 3¢ green George Washington stamp on piece. It is date stamped in San Francisco "Mar 23" but it has no year which seems curious.
I know the stamp was issued sometime in 1870, but I'm trying to determine a more precise date of issue. Can anyone help with this? Thanks.
