Or is it new old collector? Anyhow, I'm starting to revisit my stamps after a 30-year break where I was primarily collecting banknotes. I've really enjoyed the community over in the Coin Forum, so hopefully the Stamp Forum is a great group as well.

Most of my collection (the stuff anyone would be interested in) is in an old 1940 National Postage Stamp Album from Scott Publications. The rest (70s, 80s stuff from when I was growing up) are in those Vario sheets. I don't expect I will be buying a ton of new stamps or selling anything. I am more interested in cataloging and, if recommended, possibly moving some of the collection to new/permanent albums if you all tell me the old album and hinges are problematic.

Hi Captain! Welcome back :) Looking forward to seeing your collection - especially the 1940 Album.

captain coffee,

Collecting for the enjoyment of collecting, whatever that might be, is the name of the game. Don't hesitate to ask questions especially if you need basic information and especially more advanced sources of information for any possible topic. You should be able to find folks on this board a little further along on their collecting journey glad to share experiences. Russ

PS: collections always have more meaning to those who create them and their heirs than what any buyer is willing to pay for it.

Experienced stamps need a home too. I'd rather have an example that is imperfect than no example.
I collect for enjoyment, not investment.
