Yes, it can. Whatever you are referencing is incorrect. People mistake the OP's stamp for the very valuable Scott 15 all of the time but the typeface is incorrect. Read what I wrote and do some homework. Panama 81 is the base stamp for CZ 14 and it comes in many flavors including both words reading up which is, as I said, Panama 81a. |

Uboatnut - I know. The "Panama" typeface is different though. Compare the two. Yours IS a 15. The other one is not. |

uboatnut, congrats on your CZ#15! I was hoping that my stamp was a # 15 but after consulting Scott's Specialized 2020 catalog , again, I now believe it to be a # 18. What do you all think? |

Rogdcam - Agreed. I just wanted him to see the #15 you referenced. My #14 has PANAMA (15mm long) reading up on the left and down on the right.
For an in-depth discussion of the 1904-06 50c brown's overprintings, I recommend pages 14-16 in "Stamps of the Canal Zone" by Wm. Evans MD, published in 1916 by Severn-Wylie-Jewett Co. It details virtually all of the various OPs occurring during the 5 printings of this series.

CZ15 can be had for a lot less than that. I'm working with a CZ expert to add #15 to my collection. Had a look at one last year that didn't quite make the grade. |

I found these canal zone stamps in my collection of beer stamps. I know the first several are A35 AND 36. I am having trouble assigning catalog numbers to the overprints. Is the single overprint a B2 and what about the others? Any value to these stamps? I appreciate any help! |

dtreter, what catalog are you using? Your listings ( A35, A36 etc ) do not make sense

I am using Scotts Specialized huge catalog, 2020. I guess I don't know how to read it and I just bought it on eBay last week. It listed them under Canal Zone as 105 A35 and 106 A36, page 1097. The other note that I listed as B2 was on page 9 of this forum thread but I can't find that or my other notes in the Scott's catalog. Any help would be appreciated. |
