Ringo gets a gold star!!!!
ZLP stands for the Zynzmystr Local Post, and were created in the 1970s by Harold Effner.
As soon as I saw this post I emailed Harold with a link to this topic and he gave me permission to provide the following:
"I confess, it was me. I know who I gave them to, who has them now?
If you want to know more, read on. ZLP stands for the Zynzmystr Local Post. The only significance to the name is that I could spell Zinsmeister without a, e, i, o, u.
P.S. I know no one named Zinsmeister. (Hey, it was the 70's man.)
As I have no known artistic talent, I used the illustrations from an old dictionary that was being tossed out. I used every illustration from A to Z, so there should be a whole bunch more of these. I did this to mimic the sand dune countries (Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, etc.). I just photo-copied them and if any of my ZLP-ers (Zynzmystr Local Post subscrib-ERS) wanted a set, they just had to reimburse me the postage. Don't remember making many, if any, copies.
If this collector finds a 'label' with ZLPIR on it, that's another, yawn, exciting story.
Ah, memories."
Harold did follow this up with additional info:
"Make mention that a few years ago, I sold my entire Zynzmystr collection on
eBay - so I don't have anything left."
There you go!
PS. The 44 cent is awesome! My grandmother (from Kansas) used to call avocados "alligator pears" and this is the first time I have ever seen it in writing. Very cool.
