My favorites are from 1932, Scott 716, 718 and 719. But that was not a choice in your poll. |

I concur with Germania. My vote was going to be for the 1932 set for the summer games in Los Angeles. |

I too would have voted for the 1932 issue had it been on your poll. Think perhaps you have a winner even though you didn't offer it as an option. |

I appreciate the love for classic stamps, but this forum category is for modern stamps post 1940. |

I started collecting in the early 1970's, so my vote is for the 1972 set. For nostalgic reasons more than anything. I started concentrating on 19th century USA in the 1980's, and stopped buying new issues completely. I don't even KNOW what some of the later (post-2000??) Olympic Issues even look like. I bet some of the later ones look nicer than the 1972 issue, but I voted based on nostalgia. THAT'S my favorite! Best looking / best subject matter?? I doubt 1972 would win that - it might even come in last place under those criteria. |

I had to vote for 1984, that is the only year "my" Olympic sport was pictured on US stamped paper. |

Parcelpostguy: Are you a former Olympian or did you excel at a sport recreationally that was featured on the stamp? |

I represented the US internationally, trained many times with various US Olympic and Paralympic teams but no Olympics for me, except in the stands. Philately gave me something I could do during odd free hours or when repairing from being broken. |

Parcelpostguy: That's neat. Do you know why the USPS didn't issue Olympic themed stamps for the 2000, 2012, 2016 summer or 2014 winter games?
sotwuser: Those are my favorite years too. I love the large size, rich vibrant colors and artistry of those stamps. Wish more present day commemorative stamps looked as bold as those. |

The USPS stopped issuing stamps with the Olympic rings symbol due to licensing issues with the Olympic organization. |
