Newfoundland One Shilling 1860 Or 1861?

I have difficulty in classifying this stamp I do not know if it belongs to the first or second edition and if it is original Regards Simone

You posted a very difficult NFLD stamp to verify whether or not it is genuine or one of many fakes that are associated with NFLD stamps.

I am posting one of mine to compare..Things to look for are things like the"period" after "ST", etc, etc.

Also John Walsh editor of N.S.S.C. {Newfoundland Specialized Stamp Catalouge} has a great book on Newfoundland stamps...Might be a good idea to contact him to see what he thinks...Also if you want to find out if it is indeed genuine, contact the Vincent Graves Greene

Hello, I personally think it is a Scott #23. The "Rose" Color

for it to be a Scott #9, it would be more "ORANGISH/Scarlett" in color.

Is that a tear in the upper middle or a piece of lint?

if not, it is has an approx. value of $120 ($60x100% nh factor). Probably not worth it to get it expertised. my 2 cents worth
