I knew the Persia lot would get away from me ,when I read the description . I was going after the Batum collection ,but without Cert's I wasn't going to pay over $60.00 each for possible forgeries , it still climbed too high and sold for $6,250 for a lot that was estimated at $2,000 to $2500.
Maybe take back the statement that the bigger lots will stay in the estimate range .
I picked up two lots, got outbid on 3 others, so not bad. Some budget left for Sparks on Mon/Tues. Bidding was mixed I thought - some country lots went for low end of estimate or even slightly below, others blew through the estimate easily.
That Persia lot must have had some high-end genuine a specialist saw in it.
